Outlook on the knowledge gaps to reduce the EU global footprint on soils
Today, we are shining a light on how European choices affect soil across the rest of the world. In the Outlook on the knowledge gaps to reduce the EU global footprint on soils, developed by the respective SOLO Think Tank, you will learn how to define the global footprint of Europe on soils outside its borders. It also provides a summary of the steps needed to improve the research on this crucial environmental issue.
One of its main Mission Soil goals is to make sure that the actions within the EU do not harm soils across the rest of the world. Currently, when the EU imports food, wood, and biofuel from other countries, it can negatively impact the soil there. The goal is to significantly cut the latter down, without causing other trade problems, while also reducing air, water, and soil pollution to safe levels by 2050.
